We spent about 4 days in Varenna, so only had a limited number of meals/restaurants to try while we were in town. Al Prato was the only one where we went back to a second time because we enjoyed the dishes so much!
I would recommend getting something from their specials menu because both times we went, we were not disappointed. We enjoyed their truffle beef tartare and I loved the squid ink pasta with prawn. Definitely make sure you make a reservation, because it does get pretty full quickly. My husband has a gluten allergy, and they were able to accommodate/ recommend gluten-free dishes.

A nice evening in company. Good wine, delicious food. Being celiac, the menu was a bit penalizing but I appreciated the creative efforts of the chef and the room service to avoid making the difference weigh. I will definitely recommend it to my guests.
