Anthology Coffee

I recently moved to Detroit, Lafayette Park, and was looking for a local coffee roastery to buy whole beans. When I arrived at Anthology Coffee there was a gaggle of 20-somethings milling about in front of the counter. Apparently some nearby group was doing an orientation, and Anthology Coffee was the meeting place. After wading through clusters of folks, asking half a dozen people if they were waiting to order coffee (they weren't waiting to order coffee), I had a chance to ask the Anthology staff about my bean preferences. "Most of our roasts are on the lighter side, but the Parainema is a bit bolder." I ordered a brewed cup of their Villa Sarchi with oat milk. Note: In addition to being a roastery, Anthology staff make their house oat milk from locally sourced oats. And their delicious looking, gluten free, baked goods are also made from scratch in-house. The Villa Sarchi was a quality cup of coffee, but wasn't a taste I prefer. I then bought a 300g/10.5oz bag of the darker roasted Parainema for $21. More costly than most locally roasted whole bean coffees, and I am hopeful this may be my new favorite coffee. 🤞🏻

Anthology has always had a special place in our hearts! We love the authenticity of the beans and products. Easily the best cup of coffee in Detroit. And the gluten free treats - what a luxury!
