My husband and I tried Basta for the first time after seeing numerous positive posts online. He had a pasta with meatballs and found that to be okay. I have celiac and need to eat GF; I was excited to see there were several options on the menu that had a GF option. The "fast-casual" concept is cool, but the menu was difficult to read while in line, so I used the website to see what my options were. In the rush, I didn't see pastas where I could add chicken or something so I went with the gnocchi as that would also hold well with me. I've purchased GF gnocchi in grocery stores and was excited to see it on the menu here. $3 upcharge, the website showed. The cashier was outstandingly friendly and after ordering, someone checked on us and offered water. When we arrived at home with our take-out order, I discovered that I had the correct sauce and options, but with...penne. If GF penne is truly the sub for gnocchi (or any other dishes, for that matter), that should be blatantly noted on both the website and the menu screens at the location. I didn't get "glutened," but did need a second dinner two hours later. I later noticed that the GF upcharge on the receipt was $5, not $3.
