Backyard Social

The staff of backyard Social are so heartfelt and passionate about what they are doing and the food is amazing without being the least bit pretentious. This is an underrated gourmet gem in Portland and the flavor palette is so bright , skews acid but in a way that lights up rays of sunshine and preserved lemon in my mouth. Really an amazing experience every time. And, I might add , very easy to go gluten-free here as their culinary creativity skews away from gluten ( But not in a way that feels like you're sacrificing anything- au contraire).

While I started coming for the excellent craft cocktails (they set that bar high) (yes, pun intended,), and the kale salad (which is seasonal), I kept coming back because of the staff. I have no idea how these fantastic people get put into the BYS orbit, I suspect magical shenanigans. Lovely, courteous, knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. The digs are clean and the patio is comfortable. As for food... The burger is amazing. The steak is delicious. My gluten free, dairy free, veg folks have no problem eating here. Taco Tuesday is a no brainer. Lastly, any veg/salad with a fried egg on top is my jam, highly recommend.
