I always enjoyed having their "Wheat Belly" which is made with a gluten free bagel. I have Celiac disease. Even ingesting a very small amount of gluten will damage my small intestine and make me ill. They always toasted the bagel in the kitchen, not in the toaster that they use for regular bagels. The last time I was there they insisted that they had to use the regular toaster. Once they used that toaster for a gluten free bagel, it would no longer be a gluten free bagel, due to transfer of particles, however small, from wheat bagels. They post that they are "Gluten Friendly". Turning a gluten free bagel into a bagel that has gluten transfer on it is not friendly to anyone who will get sick from gluten. If they want to serve a gluten free bagel, they need a toaster dedicated to gluten free bagels. I will breakfast at The Water Street, where they take the necessary precautions to keep Celiacs safe.
