Visited in October 2020, during the Covid-19 restrictions.
Bottom Line: The food is reasonably priced but the dishes we had were not exceptional. The garlic mashed was "sticky". Service was good and Covid-19 restrictions and recommendations were observed by staff. We will likely not be back.
We ordered cider, house salad, shepherd's pie and beef kabob. The
Sweet Apple Crisp Cider is accurately named. The cider has slightly too much nutmeg for my personal taste. It was served at cellar temp and would have been better colder. The Crisp Sweet Sisters cider was both Crisp and sweet. We had a second glass. We are both gluten intolerant so we order any cider that we have not previously had. This leads to hits and misses and does not impact the star rating.
The side salad was a nice mix of lettuce, peppers, tomato, onion and cucumber. The honey mustard dressing was thicker than expected but had good flavor.
I enjoyed the shepherd's pie with applesauce while my wife had the beef kabob with garlic mashed. Portions are reasonable and filling.
The chunky garlic mashed are thickened with flour so it's not gluten free and ours were slightly gummy.
The shepherd's pie was well seasoned. The mix included carrots, a few snap peas and some onions which went well with the seasoned ground beef. The apple sauce is actually stewed apples with cinnamon seasoning and is very good.
The kabobs included a generous amount of really nice beef inter-spaced with peppers, mushrooms, onion and zucchini.
Staff was friendly and present without being pushy.
The food and ambiance are both good and pricing (55 for 2 dinners and 2 drinks) is reasonable. The 3 rating, based on the potatoes being gummy and the dishes not exceptional, places Beef and Brew in mid pack. We won't be back this trip.
