Beyond Vegan Cell Food

I contemplated several times rather I was going to leave a review or not. After carefully thinking about the type of review that I wanted to leave, I wanted my review to come from a good place versus what I experienced as a customer that visited Beyond Vegan place of business for the first time. Which took place on October 25, 2025. The lack of professionalism was not present! Upon placing my order, With having a food allergy to tomatoes, the gentleman that took my order, I distinctively told him that I didn't want tomatoes and for all sauces is to be placed on the side. Even though I didn't have too, I explain to the guy that I was traveling back to North Carolina and I didn't want my sandwich or anything else to be wet and soggy from the sauce. In response, the guy stated that I was trying to make his job harder because he had to remove the tomatoes individually from each item that I ordered that came with tomatoes. He sarcastically stated that I'm the customer, like Burger King, "You can have it your way." Remind you this is my first time visiting Beyond Vegan. I asked what side options come with my order and I was told only the salad. I was also told that if I wanted additional sides that it was going to cost me extra. I placed my order and drink order for the blue vervain tea I stated no ice. I was told that it was hot tea not cold. • Place my order, had the guy to repeat back to me my entire order so that I could make sure that it was correct. Paid for everything and even left a $4 tip for a TO GO order. • Waited 20 to 30 minutes. • Received my order with no drink. I informed the lady, which I am going to assume is the owner, that I didn't receive my drink. I waited an additional 5 minutes for the "Hot Tea." I checked my food prior to driving off. The tea was cold. Which is unacceptable! That's why I stayed and waited for an additional 5 extra minutes on top of the 30 minutes that I had already been waiting. Tomatoes were on 2 of the sandwiches as well as the salads that came with each order. I am/was VERY DISAPPOINTED and slightly irritated by the unprofessionalism. Beyond Vegan totally disregard me not wanting tomatoes, I now wasted my time and money because I could have went somewhere else. After looking at multiple reviews, this deeply saddens me because I didn't receive the quality service based off of the recommendations of 2 business owners, as well as several reviews on Google for Beyond Vegan that I read prior to going to the restaurant. I took my food back inside to make Beyond Vegan aware of the tomatoes that were placed on both sandwiches and each salad and the tea was not hot. I mentioned to the owner that I do not eat bread that came with one of the orders. The lady that I spoke with stated, "unless Dr. Sebi himself walks through that door and tells me anything different. I'm still going to use this bread. Her statement had nothing to do with me or my order. I apologized if I read the order description wrong. She then showed me from her phone what type of bread it was. Sara Lee Artesano brioche style bread. Which is not gluten-free! NOT once was I given an option of a wrap or the chickpea waffle bread. I didn't want to make a big deal over the bread or anything else so I kept partial of my order (Lion's Mane Nuggets & Lion's Mane Chicken Breast (Mushroom), in which I had to take the tomatoes off of the Lion's Mane Chicken Breast (Mushroom) sandwich & the salad. I asked for my money back for the drink and Be Vegan VBLT (King Oyster Mushrooms). I'm sure Beyond Vegan is a great place to eat. Maybe it's safe to say that I came on the wrong day. Communication and professionalism in food service is a MUST, in order for a business to thrive! Words of wisdom: In order to have compassion and love for what you do, has to be received by the customer in order to receive compassion and love back to the business owner!

This place is great! I have gluten issues & I am vegan so to find a place that can accommodate me other than just offering salads or sides was awesome. Got the Lions mane chicken sandwich with waffle bread & it was fantastic!! Elderberry tea is really good & you can get all their teas iced which I loved. It does take a bit to get your food because it’s really cooked to order but our food was piping hot when it came out. We will definitely be back next time we are in VA!
