Big Wood BBQ and Grill

We stopped here to get a bite to eat on a roadtrip. I have a lot of food allergies (gluten, eggs, dairy, and peanuts) and called ahead to make sure they could accommodate me. On the phone, they said “absolutely!” In the restaurant, I got a “maybe.” After lots and lots of back and forth between our server and owner, we finally found food that was safe for me to eat. Despite all the options that were safe, nothing is marked on the menu, which makes it super frustrating and annoying for all parties involved. In the end, the food wasn’t bad and I didn’t get sick. I look forward to going back once the menus are updated. Until then, I’ll stick to somewhere I feel more confident about eating. Roadtrips and hospitals don’t mix! I got the smoked sausage, shaved pork, and chicken combo with bbq beans and green beans.

This is some of the best BBQ around! I always enjoy getting to stop in here. They have a little misleading decor with all the deer heads on the wall, but they don't serve venison. They have a small little salad bar that is well stocked with many options for its size. There are four different sauces on the table, all of which are gluten-free. I love the gold and the hot, which Tabasco is hotter. So give it a try before you knock it.
