Wow!
We are staying in a hotel just south of the riverwalk, and my wife picked Biga based on a fairly generic qualification, of:
1: restaurant is on riverwalk
2: gluten free reviews (she has celiac) were positive (they indicated nearly anything could be made GF)
What we didn’t know was that we would have the pleasure of having our server, Chris S, lead us through ordering an absolutely delightful dinner, in a quieter and more conversation-provoking atmosphere than most of the riverwalk.
The chef has a marvelous signature dish with antelope and quail. We chose to each get a special salad and split the main. Chris suggested a few wines for great pairing (we had 2 of the 3, and they were MARVELOUS!), and because we saved space for dessert we were able to each have the sticky toffee pudding (my wife’s was gluten free, for which extra thanks is proffered to Amy, the pastry chef, for taking the time to adapt!)
We were not expecting to find such a wonderful meal, at a place that suits us so well, with such a personable server—so we are delighted to share this with you all!
If we return to San Antonio (we drove down from Denver, CO for spring break, having never been here before) we will dine here again!
