Bill Peyto’s Cafe is a simple, charming and casual restaurant located inside the same building as the Hostelling International – Lake Louise Hostel along the main road in the village of Lake Louise.
I ate here for dinner during my one night stay at the attached hostel and ordered the vegetarian Thai stir fry that had rice noodles with fried carrots, celery, mushrooms, and bell peppers in a tasty Thai sauce. The portion size was very generous and the meal tasted amazing. The restaurant was quite busy during my visit, but the staff were friendly, polite and prompt despite the amount of people. I would recommend arriving here early (before prime dinner hours) or you will likely have to wait in a long line to get seated. You can choose to eat inside at one of the wooden tables or outdoors on the hostel’s patio.
The restaurant serves a variety of comfort foods like salads, poutine, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, desserts and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (including some vegetarian and gluten-free options). You also don’t have to be a hostel guest to eat here... it is open to the public. This restaurant is a great place to go if you are looking for excellent food at a reasonable price in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. It would also be great for simply hanging out with friends to share appetizers or go for drinks.
Would recommend, especially if you are staying at the hostel!
