Popped in for a mid week lunch. The pub has recently been bought by the community and refurbished beautifully, keeping all of the old character, whilst providing a much needed refresh. The main bar area has been opened to create more space and a sense of airiness. The lunch menu was a nice mix of classics done to a high standard and it was good to see several groups eating. I am coeliac, but the chef was happy to adapt menu items as everything is cooked fresh to order. I had a gluten free scotch egg with a delicious sweet potato side, my wife had a honeyed brie sandwich with chips and my daughter had the soup. The food was excellent and reasonably priced for high quality pub food. Will definitely be back and highly recommend a visit, especially if you haven’t been to the Black Horse for a while.
