Blue Boar

Came to meet with friends who had move to the area a few years ago. Was a bit apprehensive at first due the some of the younger families in there, who'd been to the May Fair, but of no bearing on the rest of the evening. One of the party prefers Gluten Free options and really wanted the Devilled Whitebait, on asking we were told they may have Wheat flour in the coating, but the server would go and ask the chef. She came back to say, they were dusted with Wheat flour and paprika, but the chef would test a couple using cornflour instead, 5 mins later and they were confirmed a success, so a plate was ordered, along with Chorizo Scotch Eggs, Terrine and Garlic Mushrooms. For mains we had Steaks, Scampi and Chicken Souvlaki meals. We were all very happy with our meals and did not feel let down by our choice of venues or food. When you factor in the price as well as the chef going out of his way with the Whitebait, a 5 star review is very much deserved.

Six of us went in on a Saturday lunchtime hoping to be fed. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming. My wife is gluten free so went for the chicken souvlaki which she loved, while the rest of us had fish and chips. Also excellent. And good value. Good beer and wine bumped up our average spend considerably, but, over all, well worth it.
