We decided to book a table at the last minute at the magical Boatshed cafe, right on the beachfront, for lunch with my partner and her teenage daughter. The prices shocked us all from the outset, with our teenager saying that she wanted the BFC Burger 🍔 but then exclaimed that $28 was too much, and she suddenly did not want to eat!!! But I wanted to make it special for us all, so we went ahead and ordered two BFC burgers and chicken tacos, plus 2 coffees and a peach iced tea. The drinks came out separately, one at a time, which I thought was strange, and there was quite a wait on the iced tea. Then the meals came out and we waited 20 minutes for the third meal (a BFC chicken burger). Eventually we went up to question and the waitress had not put through the second burger on my order, even though I was explicit about ordering two different burgers (one normal, $28...and one with gluten free bun and bacon, $32 worth....!!) At this stage the waitress said we would have to pay for the extra burger to be made!!!! I worked in hospitality for years and that would be an absolute no no, if there was a mistake made by the restaurant staff! We would never charge them to fix the problem. We were in a rush to go, but I quickly asked to speak to management. They said there was only a duty manager upstairs and my partner said we don't have time. So I told them I would have to make my complaint online. I have included a picture of my $32 BFC burger (with the extra bacon and gluten free bun). There was only a small side of chips too that were ok (although no where near as good as KFC chips! Lol. ) The burger as you can see is certainly not gourmet!! At $32 it is no where near as good as a Benny's burger, which is half the price. In fact, we had to race off for the teenagers dance class, so we had to order a zinger burger meal from KFC for $13 which was just as good and took only 3 minutes. I will not be back which is a shame because I am a local and used to love the Boatshed. Even the atmosphere (inside) was nothing special at all! Nothing like eating outside facing the ocean which I have done in the past.

Location, location, location! Beautiful view of Hallett Cove and right at the start/end of the walking trail. It is extremely busy and can be tough to get a table + take a while for food/drinks. But they have noted this online so they are well aware and doing their best. Plus it's hard to judge right now because they have just opened up + works are still being done to the property. It will be such a great spot when everything is completed! It's already looking fantastic. The food we tried was delicious and they have gluten free and vegan options so something for everyone !
