During our recent stay at the St. Elmo Hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed the "new" Bon Ton Restaurant. First off, i want to say that you're not going to find lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs here. This is made from scratch Italian dining by Chef Ben. He is all about freshness and quality. We had dinner, drinks and breakfast here. 10/10...
GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS! Bon Ton offers gluten free options on the menu (GF).
Breakfast, we had the French Toast and Omelet. Both were perfect! The potatoes on the omelet were fresh shredded, not frozen. All ingredients are locally sourced as much as possible.
The French Toast was fluffy, perfectly cooked and both plates, very delicious.
I ordered my usual morning dose of OJ. Well, Adam just turned around and started FRESH SQUEEZING the OJ right in front of us. Adam is awesome! This guy is like a squirrel. :) He just goes and goes and goes, and goes and goes some more. He only wants the best in service and quality for the guests. If you don't take the time to say hi to Adam, you're missing out. He can put a smile on your face, throw out some funny anecdote, or just make you laugh...
Dinner, I had the Trota (Trout) in Saor, and my wife had Amatriciana. Both were 5 of 5 not only in presentation and serving temperature, but the flavors of both dishes were fresh and amazing!
Pastries/Deserts? Oh my!! The pastry chef is awesome! Cindy is great and she helped me put on some much needed weight!! :) The cookies, coffee cakes, oh my... it was awesome!!!
Samantha was our server in the morning. She is very friendly, polite and was fun to talk with! Our evening bartender, (Katelyn/Caitlyn, (sp?) sorry....) was great! Offered up choices to try for wines, oh, and if you want to talk wine, hit up Adam for a chat about grapes. But the bartender was very nice, friendly, smiling a lot, etc.
Our experience with the BON TON is 10/10. The staff are so friendly, the food is GREAT, the atmosphere/ambience is really cool and don't forget to check out the upper bar for either a pre-dinner cocktail or enjoy you dinner there as well. Want to try something cool for a drink, ask Charlie for some ideas. he'll pour it / blend it the way you want it.
The "NEW" owners of the restaurant have put in a considerable investment into reviving the Bon Ton and making it QUALITY. Not just from an establishment view, but having Adam and Chef Ben manning the helms, they found a great pair to relaunch the Bon Ton!
Be sure to check out the MENU before you go. As I mentioned, you're not going to see dishes like Lasagna, Spaghetti and Meatballs, etc.. Chef Ben has put together a very "fresh" menu of ingredients and while they don't have Lasagna on the menu, we did get to sample his lasagna and WOW!!! Awesome flavor, etc. it was amazing and my wife love how everything is fresh. Makes his own pasta.. I can't say enough good about this place and the people.
We look forward to returning and enjoying other menu items!
