The 2 stars are for the nice location, the lovely waitresses working there, and for the tasty baked potato, baked beans and salad.
I am vegetarian, which is catered for in this cafe, but sadly the dairy free by necessity part of my diet isn't. After a frustrating discussion on my part the food detailed above was the only food I could have, take it or leave it. My able to eat dairy friend had very many tasty choices.
On the way out, I attempted to buy a dairy free cake/biscuit as a treat for later, only to be told that gluten free options are available but absolutely no dairy free options, as it isn't cost effective to have dairy free options. So I suggested maybe having the lovely individually wrapped dairy free cakes/tray bakes, like the local Dumfries House cafe has, as they wouldn't have to be thrown out every day if not bought, due to longer expiry dates, but the woman said no to this too. She said they wouldn't be having any dairy free cakes/tray bakes ever again.
