Brandwein's is a great all-around bagel shop in Chapel Hill. They have cheerful service, fantastic bagels (even a gluten-free option) and tasty coffee (don't miss the cold brew with honey lavender syrup). The bagels have the right amount of chew and they aren't just good for NC--they're good period. They have a order-ahead option if you're in a hurry. It can get busy on the weekends.

I love Brandwein’s Bagels. I have a 6 year old kid who can be a bit picky about what he eats. We’re usually out and about on Saturdays and I need to grab lunch somewhere, so I put in an order online for pickup and it’s ready in 15-20 minutes. We both love their bacon egg and cheese bagel - he gets it on a plain bagel and I get it on a gluten free bagel. You can modify the order to get your bagel toasted, lightly toasted, scooped out, etc. We both go for the scooped out option so there’s a little less to chew through 😊 Not that the bagels aren’t great - we just prefer a little less bread to fillings ratio in our sandwiches. I also appreciate being able to pick up a warm or iced (depending on the weather) beverage - they have coffee, but I’m a tea person so I appreciate that they have a few tea options. Parking can be tricky - there’s a lot with 15 spaces, but that fills up fast at peak times. Best to seek other lots nearby like the one a little further down near Carrboro on Rosemary St., or stop in front of the shop for 2 minutes to run in and grab a pick up order and take it elsewhere. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
