Bread & Butter Café

Probably the best food in Townsend if you ask me. Biscuits and gravy are sublime and the Wrangler Roast is a lunch staple. Everything tastes fresh and homemade and we have a gluten allergy in our household so we greatly appreciate the many options available there! In Montana, so many breakfast or lunch outings on the road are defined by "roadside diner/bar" type places, so I love recommending B&B to friends passing through as something that's a little different. If I had one "complaint", it's probably the hours. I would probably donate a left pinky toe if B&B stayed open late just one night a week or opened up Sunday so we could have dinner there or a good Sunday brunch. The food is incredible and we'd be extremely frequent customers, but we're limited to only Saturday since we are working during the normal 7a-2p hours.

Friendly and fast! Gluten free pancakes were excellent. Didn't expect Gluten free options in this small town. Will be back tomorrow before I head out!
