Such a bizzare place! We booked in here for the night before our wedding. The room itself was really cool, spacious and comfortable but we found the pillows were massive and no variation within the room so it was hard to get comfy but the bed itself was really comfortable. The TV had a screensaver on which we couldn't work out how to turn off, so just before bed we had to go and find the staff again (you ring a bell at reception, there's generally nobody around) and ask how to turn it off and apparently we should have been told but weren't. The bathroom was like it belonged to a different room all together, it was a luxury room with a Travelodge bathroom attached. There was a sign saying they hadn't finished doing them up and that the water system was old so to wait for hot water for a bit but it feels like they shouldn't be charging what they do for unfinished rooms? The art work in the hotel is pretty much all for sale but nothing is priced up and we didn't get a price list until we left and the one we were interested in wasn't on the list but was for sale so we still had to ask reception. The bar is well stocked and the bar man was really nice and chatty but there's no atmosphere and it's very quiet. Breakfast was very odd as we walked in and no staff were there, we sat down at a table and something was really stinking and we realised there was fish out on the table which we had to give back to be removed. The staff member took our drinks order but didn't explain anything to us, we were needing to go fairly swiftly and we could only see that one member of staff and they didn't seem to be around, we asked to order and we're told you don't order it just gets brought out, as my partner is gluten free he couldn't eat the majority of what was on the menu and they didn't have any alternatives apart from the bread. It just felt very wasteful as there was so much stuff we don't eat, can't eat or didn't want. The rest of the hotel is filled with some cool and bizarre memorabilia but it's so quiet it doesn't feel like the sort of place you can sit around in the public spaces. We turned up in a van full of wedding stuff and the drive up the hill through the park is really not van friendly and is very narrow, there's no proper car park and it's not sign posted so we had no idea where to park and I had to run in and find a staff member to ask, we had to drive past the hotel where the outside tables and chairs made getting a van through very difficult and then we essentially parked in a gravelled cul-de-sac on a hill. We also didn't realise until we got there that they don't serve food most of the week. We turned up on a Sunday evening to find the hotel had zero food available, nobody would deliver and nearly everything local closed at 6. In their defence they did put this on one of their confirmation emails but we just missed that entirely and didn't presume they'd only do food 3 days a week. It meant us having to go outside of the local area to find food which just wasn't ideal. They put rose petals on the bed which was a nice touch for our pre wedding night but whilst the room was really cool I just don't feel like it was worth the price.
