Should have read the reviews instead of trusting word of mouth. It seems it's pretty common for them to "miss the mark"
This was my first experience with Buddy's and probably my last.
They don't offer a traditional pie with mozz, only their own style which is a matter of taste. It wasn't to my taste, but they're popular for a reason and I encourage people to try it out themselves
I ordered an 8 corner with bacon and red onions, my wife a gluten free(only available in a 4 corner size) cheese pizza, then buddy bread and an antipasto salad paying extra for beets.
First, this style of pizza is cheese on bread, sauce on top. Toppings buried under the cheese. This results in chewy bacon and undercooked onions. The crust was a bit rubbery. Had 2 slices and called it quits. It was enough that I wasn't hungry, but I'm not bothering with the 6 leftover slices. Similarly, the buddy bread was just ok.
The gluten free pie wasn't cut and was similarly disappointing. Immediate quote after the second bite: "cottage inn is better"(regarding gluten free crust)
The extra beets for the salad translated for 2 slices of beats for $1.50 extra. Not the best deal but it's pizza place salad so what can you really expect?
The staff was very friendly though, but that's all of a 90 second part of the experience. When the best part is before the first bite, I'll take my business elsewhere.
