Burger & Butcher

It pains me to have to write this review because we genuinely loved this place. We've been here multiple times because of their commitment to various gluten-free items and what was, until recently, a dedicated fryer. Unfortunately this has now apparently changed for the worse. We went there last week and were told by the chef/manager that their beef tallow fryer is now shared with flour donuts (sourdough brioche donut bites) they recently introduced and if you're sensitive to gluten you would be better off with menu items not fried in the tallow. This of course leaves basically just the hamburger, which is griddled. So while it's wonderful that the chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, tallow fries and nachos are all made with gluten-free ingredients and happily say so on the menu, sharing these items in a common fryer with gluten donuts is...ridiculous and incredibly unsafe if you are gluten-sensitive or have Celiac. So suddenly the following are subject to cross-contamination: tallow fries, wagyu hot dog, crispy chicken sandwich, buffalo chicken sandwich, crispy chicken tenders, buffalo chicken tenders... We took a chance that maybe the gluten levels would be low enough to not be an issue but of course got glutened after eating the nachos and tallow fries. I would VERY STRONGLY advise anyone with a gluten allergy to stay far away from Burger & Butcher. To the owners of this restaurant I would suggest either removing any mention of "gluten free" from your menu, posting a notice in store and/or on the menu that the fryer is shared with gluten or going back to a dedicated fryer because your current practices are going to get someone allergic to gluten very seriously sick. Like I was from the last visit. Very sad, but I must now recommend avoiding at all costs...

Excellent food. Totally worth the hype. Our family had the burger, chicken tenders, hot dog, fries, a shake and one of the gluten/ dairy free pies. Everything was fantastic and the portions were large. We especially appreciated that the chicken was gluten and dairy free, but still tasted fantastic. Yes, the prices are high. You get what you pay for. You can pay for nourishing foods now or you can pay for medication later. (But $2 for a cup of sauce is silly tbh) Only complaint is the tipping situation. I don’t understand tipping when you order at a tablet, get a number, and they bring your food. This system is fine, but I don’t believe tips should be expected without actual table service. Everyone was very friendly, though. Would definitely return if back in the area!

Mom and I enjoyed our experience here! Gluten-free fries and options! Staff was so attentive!
