I have a very severe gluten allergy. I specifically requested a gluten-free bun, and when my burger arrived, I trusted that my food was safe to eat. I was starving and took a bite, only to immediately realize it was not gluten-free. I spit it out right away and informed the staff. The man I spoke to responded, “Was it supposed to be gluten-free?” — clearly showing he had not taken my allergy seriously.
About 10 minutes later, a new burger was brought out, this time gluten-free. I cautiously ate it, but soon after, I became severely ill. I had to rush to the restroom, where I began violently throwing up as my body reacted to the gluten exposure.
I have never been this sick at a restaurant that advertises itself as gluten-friendly. To make things worse, the manager offered meal coupons and called it a “learning experience” for the employee — as if that would undo the physical toll it took on me. They also commented, “Hopefully your Saturday isn’t ruined,” which felt incredibly dismissive.
I absolutely hated my experience here.
If you have a gluten allergy — do not eat here. Your health and safety are not treated with the seriousness they deserve.
