I stumbled upon this shop and the meat looked to be good quality. It was also grass fed which was important. I bought a piece of whole grass fed eye fillet at $51.99 per kilo. When I unwrapped it I found that it was actually four pieces of meat stuck together with meat glue. I called the shop and they confirmed they used TGEB3 to glue smaller fillets together. The issue with this is that people with food sensitivities or Coeliac disease should avoid this additive. The other risk with gluing pieces of meat together is that the outside of a meat fillet can have harmful bacteria on it which is killed off during cooking. When fillets are stuck together and a piece of meat is cooked less than well done, bacteria may not be killed and food poisoning can occur. The store has offered me a refund and were frank and upfront with me when I asked about the product, but I am disappointed they were not transparent about what substances were in their product. This additive was banned in Europe from 2010 due to safety concerns.
