We recently had dinner at Castaway as it had positive reviews and the sushi menu made it very appealing for a gluten intolerance in our group. We were promptly seated dockside after not having a reservation and we were looking forward to taking in the sunset. Our waitress was excellent provided great service during our dinner. The sushi we ordered was really good, which is high praise for someone who typically does not enjoy sushi. However, the hogfish prepared with their menu recommendation was just alright, sort of bland. They did offer several ways to prepare and cook it that looked appetizing however, so maybe it was just the wrong choice.
Unfortunately, as the sun set, we were swarmed by possibly the worst horde of mosquitoes I've ever experienced. They were all over the food and the patrons, leaving us covered in bites the rest of our trip. Most of the people eating around us left their food unfinished and the dock immediately. Maybe we should have known better, but a fair warning from the staff was probably warranted.
I would return to the Castaway and definitely order the sushi, but avoid eating outside during the late evening.
