As someone who now has to eat gluten free I judge a place by their accommodations and black castle was one of the worst. An undercooked jacket potato is not in any universe the same as chips and if you're going to subject me to that at least give me sufficient butter to moisten your poorly cooked jacket potato The gammon was tough as hell and the "fried" onions were lightly heated by the looks of things. The coke which cost over £3 for what equates to about 50p of soda wasn't even filled to the top of the pint glass. This place used to be good but has gone downhill and I dread to think how poor my food would have been if they were busy. I'm not shocked that they were almost empty on a bank holiday with the high prices and poor quality food

I dined here with 3 other people, who enjoyed their meals and said it was good value for money. We weren't here at a busy time so service was quick and staff were great. But.... I am gluten and dairy intolerant, and also don't eat meat. I dine out often and don't usually have an issue with options to cater for these needs. However, here there was very limited options I could have. I was reduced to having a plain jacket potato and baked beans in bbq sauce (which literally was normal beans with bbq sauce squirted in them), which I didn't eat as they tasted odd and were cold. I understand some places place more focus on catering for intolerances, which is fine. I just won't be returning here unfortunately.
