Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'

This restaurant was incredible! The first time we were there, the waiter made several wonderful recommendations for one of our guests with gluten allergies. The chicken dinner, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and coleslaw were incredible! It was so good, that we had to return later in the week based on the waiter's recommendation for the meatloaf dinner. He has salt n pepper hair and a beard and he was the friendliest guy..I wish I could remember his name. :(

I'm gluten intolerant, but my friends were looking forward to eating here. I was happy with the variety of GF options available for me. I ordered a side of vegetables and potatoes and a side of coleslaw. Both were incredible! I'm a little picky when it comes to coleslaw, but this was the best I've ever had. The vegetables were just as amazing! I also tried the deviled eggs, which were fine but not great. Everyone at our table raved about how delicious their food was so I'd highly recommend!

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW!!! Promise you won’t be disappointed. Let’s start with the positive….. So let’s start with the service. The name of the server was Angelica and she is amazing, attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Same with hostess and managers. The service and presentation were amazing. The shrimp cocktail was incredible and highly recommend. Mac and cheese. Whoa. Now onto the reason why I am leaving 3 stars…. Chef Art’s Famous Chicken……oh mai gawd….. I wish they just purchased the chicken from Chicken Guy and pretended it was theirs and this place would be a 5 stars. Maybe get it from Publix and not have to charge $32 for friend chicken that has no taste. Many in the reviews have said the chicken isn’t seasoned enough and I agree. I noticed most people loving the chicken are Caucasian. Listen white people, we let you know your grits and gluten free stuff. But i truly believe African Americans perfected this dish (research fried chicken in America) Chef Art, where on Alabama is this chicken famous? I’ve had better friend chicken at the 711 in Lauderhill. Someone has to explain how is it that this place is famous for their chicken. This is like Pizza Hut being famous for their burgers. Bring a lot of salt and pepper, or adobo for my Hispanics raza, next time you come.
