Chef Rob's Gourmet Cafe

We had a wonderful week in Hopkins and our dinner at Chef Rob's was a highlight. The setting is beautiful. Food is expertly prepared, and the service was absolutely top notch. Mike and Leticia were running the "front of house" the night we dined at Chef Rob's and both were fantastic. The accomodated dietary restrictions (gluten) for one of our guests. If you get a chance to check them out, Mike and Leticia also run a fresh organic juice business in Hopkins (M&L Juice Snack Bar) and their fresh juice was being served at Robs. Everything was fantastic. We can't wait to get back!

My SIL recommended this place, she had wonderful memories of a trip over 10 years ago. It was disappointing. The service was attentive although it slightly rushed. The food was uninspiring, my soup was slightly salt without much of a flavor profile. The salad was boring. My red snapper was good. The desert was a let down. The ice cream shop and the bakery next to the ice cream shop serve better cake. My carrot cake was a little square with not much flavor and a scoop of ice cream. For the price I expected better. They did say they could accomodate a gluten free vegetarian, and they did. With a veggie curry. The same veggie curry that is served to vegetarians all over Belize. It was so spicy that if it had been served to me I would have had to send it back. This was our most expensive meal in Belize and one of our least enjoyed.
