Chef Burma

If you are craving food from south east Asia and you can’t afford a plane ticket, this is the next best thing. The four of us went here for a culinary adventure. It was some of the best food we have had since traveling south east Asia. The black pepper chicken was tender and so flavorful. They accommodated all of our dietary needs. Many of their dishes are gluten free and can be made gluten free. The spicy noodles were flavorful and we immediately decimated that dish. We all were hoping to bring home left overs but instead we stuffed ourselves with the fresh flavorful food and our only regret is we don’t get to relive the experience the next day. Our server Peggy was great, all the staff were happy and helpful. We will be back, so many more items to enjoy on that menu.

I was walking to a different restaurant when I noticed Chef Burma. I was feeling adventurous, so I stopped there for dinner. The servers were attentive and helpful. I asked about Burmese food and was given 3 recommendations of the the best items to try. I went with the basil pepper beef with coconut rice. This was a delightful dish, and the server checked to make sure I was happy with it. And I was. I was impressed that the menu indicates which items are gluten-free and vegetarian, too. Next time I visit Sacramento, I'll be back for more! This is walking distance from the Hyatt Regency, about 5-1/2 blocks.

Friendly service, super tasty food, so many gluten free options. The lettuce wraps deeeeelighted my mouth and the samusa soup landed in an incredibly warm, cozy, comforting way - despite me being in a bustling, lively restaurant on the corner of 16th and K. 4 stars for atmosphere because I am old and once the restaurant got busy, I could no longer hear my companion.
