At nearly $2 per ounce, I expected a serving of cheesecake to be a life-changing experience. While it was good, I can't help but feel that the price tag isn’t worth it. I understand that quality ingredients come at a cost, but $7 for a small taster or $12 for a cinnamon roll? If you want to bring a 9”cheesecake home for a birthday or other celebration $84 to $120 for regular or gluten free? That is still $9+ per serving.
As if the pricing wasn't enough of a shock, my experience was further marred by the argumentative ownership. When I politely and genuinely expressed surprise at the cost, I was met with a defensive and frankly rude response from the owner, who insisted that "you get what you pay for" I appreciate the passion for the product and understand that running a business isn’t easy, a little humility and customer service goes a long way. Maybe they hear it all the time. I felt more like I was in a debate club than a friendly cheesecake shop! Admittedly, I should have checked the online menu before visiting so that is on me.
If you’re ready to shell out a small fortune for a mini cheesecake serving and don’t mind a side of confrontation, Cherry’s Cheesecakes might be your place. Otherwise there are lots of options in the old town neighborhood for more affordable and friendly options.
