Attended CHOP for anniversary dinner. Made reservation online at which time I noted it was for an anniversary and advised of gluten/dairy allergies. We arrived a bit early. The hostess confirmed our reservation and didn't say my name correctly. This is fine, it happens all of the time and I genuinely get a kick out of people pronouncing it. I smiled at her and said it correctly and we had a giggle together. Another hostess wearing all black with darker thick rimmed glasses gave me a hard stare and disapproving raised eyebrows, which was a tad off-putting. We proceed to the table and our server was Nick. Nick was very attentive and a fantastic server. I advised again of the gluten and dairy allergy. Nick assured this would not be an issue. We ordered drinks from the bar. Mine came with a paper straw. Celiacs and those in the service industry who are knowledgeable, understand why this is a problem. I took maybe 2 sips of my drink and my stomach starts churning. I did not drink my drink. I ordered a medium rare top sirloin and opted for steamed broccolini. The steak came. It was well done and the broccolini was cold. I showed Nick who was very apologetic and offered to replace it. I told him not to worry as he was not responsible for cooking the steak, and advised I didn't want to be a pain and I would eat what was brought to the table. We ate quickly and Nick offered us a dessert. But by this time the meal was so bad we opted to leave. Nick did bring us a coupon for a free steak. This was really nice however this was our second time at CHOP and it will be our last as our first experience was terrible as well. For the same price point, the Keg nails it everytime. This was us giving CHOP another go, but we will not bother to go again. Our server Nick was the only good thing about the experience. I took a photo of the "medium rare" steak.
