I loved this place but disappointed to find out that their gluten free items aren’t actually safe to eat as a celiac. Especially considering in the past I have eaten here and was told it was safe to eat and a good majority of their items are listed as GF. I went to dine in a few weeks ago with my partner and mentioned I was celiac and was told that I can’t eat anything because they fry everything in the same fryer. We pushed the waitress on this to further explain, I told her I wasn’t informed of this problem and she seemed just as confused as we were. My partner and I ended up having to eat elsewhere as ultimately anyone who is gluten free knows they can’t eat food fried in oil with gluten products. There may be a miscommunication going on but yeah, disappointing as I really loved this beautiful restaurant. I still recommend to others to go, just not safe for those who are gluten free ♥️

On a rainy Thursday evening, I decided to explore Collingwood and ended up at Chotto Motto, a gem tucked away at the corner of Hotham and Wellington Street. Being a Thursday, they were open later than usual, and I was fortunate to secure a table. The staff were very accommodating, promptly providing me with menus and water. Noticing I was dining alone, the server explained that many dishes are designed for sharing, which was evident as I looked around the vibrant room filled with groups of friends engaged in animated conversations. For drinks, I tried their mocktail, the Shiso Tasty 0%, a refreshing blend of house-made Shiso Shrub, Green Tea, Orange, and Soda. For starters, I indulged in the Hiramasa Kingfish Crudo Sashimi with Ponzu and Dill Sauce. I then moved onto the Miso Mac and Cheese with Gorgonzola and toasted Aonori Panko crumb, a delightful vegetarian option. To wrap up the meal, I chose the gluten-free Hojicha Crème Brûlée. Already eyeing the menu for my next visit, I can't wait to try the unique ice cream options made by Fluffy Torpedo, known for their science-based, wild flavors. All in all, Chotto Motto is a must-try if you're in the area, offering a diverse menu, accommodating staff, and a fantastic atmosphere.
