If you have food allergies you might want to reconsider risking Christopher’s. We had dinner here recently on a Friday night and we were seated at a high top in the bar area. Our server was also the bartender. When we ordered our appetizers my husband said he was gluten free. The server told us that they had gluten free pasta but not gf bread. He was ordering one of the salmon dishes with rice and vegetables, so we thought it was a safe choice. When dinner came his salmon was covered in deep fried onions. When we questioned the server if they had a batter on them she looked confused and said they did. We pointed out that his dinner was supposed to be gluten free! She became defensive and said we didn’t remind her he was gluten free!! She offered to have them remake it but we lost all confidence in the preparation. The menu clearly states to alert the server about any food allergies and we did that. A person with Celiacs becomes severely ill when gluten is ingested and must rely on the integrity and knowledge of their servers. Management at Christopher’s may want to consider
retraining the staff on food allergy protocol.
I’d like to note that after reading the review, Katie the owner, contacted me to see how the situation could be made right. She assured us that the staff would be spoken to about the incident and that they take food allergies seriously. My recommendation would be to speak to a manager about your food allergy before you order so that the correct precautions can be taken. My appreciation to Katie for taking the time to reach out.
