Ciao Trattoria

The food was phenomenal. Reminded me of my trip with my wife to Italy >10yrs ago. The staff was very friendly. They were super busy but very attentive. Definitely need to call for reservations next time, we were lucky to get a table. Unexpectedly they don't give an option for tips. The server explained they pay the staff well enough and do not require them to live off tips, similar to the culture in Italy. Which is great, but we didn't bring cash and would have left some $$ for the great service anyway. My wife is gluten free, but found plenty of good options on the menu. I had their Salmon special and it was terrific, and I don't necessarily think Salmon as something notable especially in Washington, but the cook was perfect, a bit crispy on the outside, but still very juicy inside. The lemon caper sauce was not too tangy, but not overly buttery either, really well done. We opted for a flourless almond chocolate torte with vanilla gelato for dessert. We were stuffed but had to try it and it was great! Would absolutely recommend. Hidden gem and I'll be back soon!
