The newer, more modern layout of City Market South beats out the dated feel of the other location. While there are occasional aisle blockers, most shoppers are considerate. While there have been some stock shortages in recent months, they typically offer a solid variety of common food categories. Their gluten-free selection has improved over the years, showing a commitment to meeting diverse dietary needs. Prices are reasonable, and even lean towards being budget-friendly. The atmosphere at City Market South is undeniably pleasant. The positive energy is evident, and the staff exude warmth and hospitality. The floral department deserves a special mention for going above and beyond to help me get flowers to my mom for Mother's Day. It's acts like these that truly make a difference. Whenever I'm in Montrose, this City Mart is a must-stop. It brings back memories of my favorite hometown grocery stores, and that's something I really appreciate. I believe this to be the best grocery store in Montrose. Much better than the North side City market which is very dated. The More Southern City market which is the focus of this review is clean and has helpful staff. Most people are considered enough to not stop and block aisles but there are some, especially older people, that seem oblivious that any other individuals around them might be trying to shop. In the past I might have given this door five stars, but it has repeatedly had issues with keeping things in stock over the last several months. When normally stopped the store has a very good variety of nearly any common category of food. They're gluten-free selections have improved over the last few years. The overall layout is reasonable. Prices are overall comparable to most grocery stores, perhaps a little lower than the nearby Safeway.
