Clark’s Family Restaurant

We went twice. Once for birthday dinner and once for a farewell lunch before the kid (who's almost middle aged) and I sadly left Montana. Dinner includes the soup and salad bars, a bread (was supposed to be fry bread, but Clark's was out), a potato, and a meat. Clark's was out of ribeye, twice as much as the steak, but we were subbed New York what seemed to be at least 16 oz. steaks for the steak price. Everything was good, but the steaks were so underseasoned that I had to put both salt and pepper on mine as did the birthday g'ma and the kid. Mother and the kid loved their chili, with one going for a second cup. We had huckleberry cheesecake that was good, but a bit overly sweet. The blueberry pie, with a hint of cinnamon and although with a slightly underbaked crust, was the best one I'd ever tasted! A la mode, it was pure deliciousness! Mother's moose tracks (caramel and chocolate) shake was better than any version of any of the ice cream versions I'd ever tasted. One great mark: the restaurant was closing, but was kept open so we could dine. It was Mother's birthday and our flight was delayed, so we were grateful. For lunch, I just had the salad bar and a cup of clam chowder. The kid had an avocado bacon burger, which was inspired by Mother's order - hers with gluten free bread instead of a bun. I got a bite, and it was truly delicious, with smoky flavor like it had been grilled and well seasoned. They, I think thinking that the soup and salad bar came with the meal, had a cup of clam chowder, which was gluten free. She had a cherry hot fudge sundae for dessert while the kid and I had to settle for apple pie. We started out sharing one slice, a la mode, of course. But that was so good, we shared a second piece! Sadly, the apples in that piece were sadly almost raw, so while still tasty, not the same as the first, which was good, but couldn't hold a candle to the blueberry pie.
