Coastal Crust James Island

They have the best gluten free homemade crust!! Highly recommend this place for my fellow GF friends. You can pick whichever pizza to have it made with the GF crust. Service was great too.

DO NOT GO HERE — Listed on Find My Gluten Free because they offer a gluten free crust. Most places that offer a GF crust also slide a sheet of foil or a clean tray in the pizza oven to keep the pizza from touching the glutened surface. Even though it said online that they would do this, the chef refused to accommodate by placing aluminum foil or making any reasonable effort. If they offer a gluten free crust, they should be able to take the extra millimeter of effort to put the pizza on a piece of aluminum foil in the oven. Incredibly disappointing. We went to The Harlow down the block instead & they were incredibly accommodating & even have a separate fryer. I never understand a chef that refuses to accommodate for their guests. Go to The Harlow instead & take your money elsewhere.

My wife and I and eaten here in person and ordered out multiple times and there are a few things we love and hate about this place. The Food: Their food is the ONLY reason we keep going back. My wife is gluten free and they have the best gluten free dough. I have eaten many things on the menu from pizza, to pasta, and salads. I have never been disappointed by how good the food is. The Service: I have been EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the service at this restaurant. We keep coming back hoping it will get better but over at least the past 2 years it has gone unchanged. Eating in person; I’ve heard servers very loudly complaining about patrons and I’ve seen servers answering their cell phones while my food was sitting there waiting to go out. Ordering out; I’ve had to wait 20+ mins extra for my food and I’ve been completely ignored by staff while waiting to pick up. It appears that most of the front of house staff are high schoolers and act exactly how you expect high schoolers to act with little to no respect for anyone but themselves. Long review but in short the food is the only reason we keep going back and it’s the only reason this isn’t a one star review. They clearly need a manager that can get front of house in check. I have made my displeasure with their service known so I can only hope that one day they will fix it before the have to close up.
