Celebrated my birthday at The Colony. Wanted to try a different buffet. We arrived at 650pm. The service staff were friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere was grand and with the setting daylight..it made the restaurant look bright. However, once the dark night sky set..we felt it was a little dim and with the cosy booth corner table we had, my son felt sleepy. Service was excellent, polite staff and quick to assist and top up water and clear the plates. As I have gluten intolerance, instead of a small chocolate cake as I seen for other birthday celebrations, they were creative and made me a beautiful fruit platter with flowers. It was a nice refreshing end to a buffet. As for the food, the cold seafood selection was a little disappointing when I compare to South Beach Kitchen, however to be fair it was a Tuesday menu and not their Friday Seafood menu. There were your cold prawns, shells, crab and oysters. Salmon, Tuna and Octopus sashimi and various sushi. Various cold cuts The hot dishes were good. Love the Ribeye cuts and roast pork and black cod fish. The dim sum options were good. Love the Har Gow and the mushroom looking pao which is actually the salted yolk custard was delicious. Don't forget the noodles station. We took the thick rich broth laksa noodles..seem like a crowd favourite. However, my personal preference is the Henessey XO fish soup noodles.. ask for more XO makes the broth pop. There were fried egg floss and chunky pieces of fish. For dessert the signature popiah with peanut, yam ice cream and coriander leaves was popular. 5 flavours of ice cream and I liked that it's handled by the staff as it keeps the station clean and no cross contamination of flavours when left to guests to scoop their own ice cream. Plenty of sweet treats like chocolates and local kueh. I like the mango pudding with it natural sweetness and not artificially sweeten taste.
Which buffet restaurant in Singapore has the best value for money on your birthday? Today, let’s follow Sister Hua to visit the Colony on the ceiling of Singapore’s buffet. Located at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, Colony Restaurant is famous for its luxurious buffet experience and is arguably one of the most popular buffets in Singapore. Both of us like the buffet very much, so we made a reservation early to celebrate Sister Hua’s birthday at the restaurant. But because of its high cost performance, it is also one of the most difficult restaurants to book among the buffet restaurants. The Colony's décor combines modern and colonial styles, with vintage maps and postcards adorning the walls, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. Make the dessert table first when you enter. Colony's buffet provides a rich selection of desserts. I learned this lesson the last time I had lunch. I am worried that the dessert table will be "destroyed", so it is a good habit of mine to make dessert first as soon as I enter the door. Offering a variety of international cuisine, including Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Indonesian, Malaysian, Western and local specialties. The restaurant has eight open kitchens and provides live cooking performances, allowing you to witness the food preparation process with your own eyes. This beef brisket is really soft and delicious Colony is proud of its ice bar, which offers fresh seafood, such as giant shrimp, snow crab legs, freshly opened oysters, mussels, etc. Sashimi and sushi are also highlights here, with thick slices and excellent taste. Finally started our favorite desserts, today’s goal is to try them all They also offer gluten-free bread, which is a surprise for someone like me who is allergic to flour. I had three plates of desserts in total. Dear Sister Hua, happy birthday. I want you to be the happiest mother in the world. I can be both your caring little cotton-padded jacket and your down-to-earth military coat. I love you🥰Your daily task now is to be responsible for your happiness and appearance. Just be as beautiful as a flower Finally, I took a look at the steamer basket, which offers a variety of Chinese dim sum, such as steamed dumplings, siomai, shrimp dumplings, steamed buns, etc. I don’t know if the taste is authentic or not, but we can’t bear it anymore. The service quality at Colony is really beyond praise. Fiona, who served us that day, was very attentive and polite, ensuring that we had a pleasant dining experience. Thank you very much to her.
