Lovely place to dine. Gluten free menu. Service was good.

Very poor on dealing with Gluten Free options.. standard practice now at restaurants to put GF etc against food.. not here. Instead, any query about if wheat in dish was handed, at the table, a document in small print to read through. Not the best start to a happy dining experience. When asked a direct, simple question ' is there wheat on the chips?' Given this document to read through... When asked to just ask the Chef- the person making the chips so should know, wadhanded the document again and told ' it is not company policy to tell you, its company policy to give you this document for the customer to read for themselves! Really spoiled my Dining experience as the chef refused just to say a Yes orNo Took the chance on the chips... which were very nice..but the plate arrived with my ordered grilled chicken and the chips - minus the coleslaw so the plate lookedvery plain and not very inviting. When asked where was the coleslaw was told Chef wouldn't serve it as it's not GF. ???.. I've never known there to be gluten in coleslaw but they didnt come to ask if I might like something else yo replace it nor have the gumption to put a bit of salad on the plate So poor The Chef and staff here need some urgent training in Special diet knowledge - for safety sake- but also this method they use is just plain LAZY approach ALL staff should know about food allergies when working with food service and should be able to inform the customer. Wont be going back.
