I didn’t get to eat here. When I asked the hostess whether they could prepare any sort of gluten-free dish for a celiac person they went to ask the chef. The message that came back from the kitchen was “We can’t promise anything and we do not recommend you eat here,” with no willingness for further discussion. Wow. In 15 years of dealing with this awful disease I’ve had lots of responses to this question, ranging from “we don’t know what that is,” to “we’ll do our absolute best, but can’t promise there won’t be some amount of contamination.” This was the first time that absolutely zero effort was made to find some sort of safe solution.
I totally understand kitchens can only do what they can do and appreciate any effort on my behalf. Truth is, it’s really just not that hard to wipe down the grill and make me a plain burger patty and a bowl of plain lettuce. It’s not rocket science. I’ve never before been hungry, with limited options, and had a restaurant tell me they just can’t be bothered and that I should go away.
0/10 for celiac or gluten-senstive folks. The rest of Bozeman was great.
