Crow & Gate Pub

So disappointed went here for a special celebration and one guest has Celiac. I phoned ahead to see what options there would be for her. I was hurriedly told that the burgers were gluten free and they had gluten free buns along with a salad or two and a chowder. I was assured she would be looked after, or our party would have gone elsewhere! I understand some places don't take gluten allergies seriously and if that's the case that's fine ! Just be upfront about it! Just remember you are loosing the entire parties business not just the one with allergies! She ended up not able to have a burger after all! Apparently it isn't gluten free as it's soaked in au jus that has gluten! So the only option left was a salad! Which turned out to be cross contaminated and she was sick in the evening! It's a beautiful setting, I enjoyed the company, the wine and the cheese cake. I had a burger and I have to say she didn't miss much!

Gluten free buns available! Always nice to be able to eat at Pubs with a gluten allergy. The patio and gardens are stunning! Will come back
