While I can appreciate that their menu is marked with “Gluten Free” items, the wait staff/ server we had did not understand what we meant when we asked about how their kitchen handled “cross contamination” they simply said they wash the dishes... This should have been our warning sign to not just believe all of the good reviews on the FindMeGlutenFree App. We ordered the edamame (marked GF), chicken satay (marked GF) and Pad Woon Sen (marked GF) and informed them of a gluten allergy, emphasizing no cross contact. While the edamame was good and well salted, the other two dishes we ate both lacked flavor and we only ended up eating about half of the Pad Woon Sen (split between two people). We would have asked for some salt or inquired if they had gluten free soy sauce to add to our dishes, but the server never returned to see how our food was or check in on us after they brought our food to us. Not only was the food lacking flavor, but less than 2 hours after eating, it is clear that we have gotten sick from the food already. I’d skip this restaurant if you have a gluten allergy and are sensitive to cross contamination, unless you are able to speak directly to their kitchen staff or a more knowledgeable team member while dining here.

I came here for lunch on a Friday in August. This place is reasonably priced and not far from Michigan Ave. so it has become a go-to place for me when I am in Streeterville. I usually get the rice stick noodle soup with tofu and broccoli. I omit the bean sprouts. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. I also appreciate the old school decor, it makes it feel like an experience. I can also recommend Dao Thai for solo diners and those who need to eat gluten-free. I will definitely be back.
