Darbster has been a staple for me for many years. It’s more of a gourmet vegan place, with a creative menu that doesn’t discriminate against healthy or non-healthy, but where you can meet your non-vegan peers half way, as there is a good range of “imitation” or heavier foods. They have a raw section with many options and gluten free items across the menu. They also have great salads (pear and gorgonzola for me) and an array of creative teas and other drinks, beer and wine included. It’s a place where you can eat a nice healthy meal or go to town with a heavy, starchy, flavorful situation.
I like the two outdoor areas for either private dinners or groups; they’re cozy and have nice views. The service staff is consistently friendly. Sometimes they have live music, too. Recently they’ve undergone a change that has affected how often I go and what dishes I get, but hopefully that resolves soon. I trust they can grow out of it.
If you haven’t been, it’s definitely worth the drive!
