I recently popped into Darcie Mae’s on Wood Street in Earl Shilton, Leicester, and what a lovely little gem this place is! This artisan coffee and cake shop is an absolute treat for anyone with a sweet tooth or a craving for a proper cuppa. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the most charming decor – think clean, stylish, and oh-so-Instagrammable, with a warm, welcoming vibe. The menu is a dream for coffee lovers, offering everything from iced lattes to frappuccinos, and the display of bakes had me drooling before I even ordered. I went for a hot chocolate and one of their famous brownies, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! The brownie was rich, fudgy, and clearly made with heaps of care – you can tell everything’s baked from scratch. The hot chocolate was the perfect balance of creamy and indulgent, just the ticket for a chilly day. What really stood out was how dog-friendly the place is – well-behaved pups are welcome, which is a massive plus for me. The staff were friendly and the service was spot-on, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. It’s also great to know they cater to gluten-free diets, with some cracking options like their brownies for those who need them. If I had to nitpick, it’d be nice if they added a few savoury options to the menu in the future, but honestly, the sweet treats are so good you won’t miss them. Whether you’re grabbing a takeaway coffee or settling in for a proper catch-up, Darcie Mae’s is a brilliant addition to Leicester’s food scene. I’ll definitely be back – probably with my dog in tow!
