Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse in downtown Pittsburgh has become one of our go-to spots—and for good reason. My wife and I have been coming since it opened a few years ago, and these days we find ourselves here quite often, whether it’s Mother’s Day brunch, a business dinner, a date night… you name it. We almost always start with the shrimp cocktail and a classic wedge salad (avocado-ranch dressing is a must). My wife loves the jumbo lump crab cakes, and I’m a ribeye guy every time—USDA Prime is my usual pick, though I’ve heard great things about their dry-aged and Wagyu cuts. Cocktails here are superb: the Smoked Añejo old-fashioned is my favorite, my wife typically goes for the VIP. As someone with celiac disease, I can’t say enough good things about their gluten-sensitive menu. They bring out warm gluten-free bread, help you navigate all the safe options, and even have a gluten-free chocolate mousse that’s ridiculous in the best way. (For anyone who can handle gluten, the butter cake is legendary—my wife always insists on taking one to go.) The staff is what really seals the deal. Valet parking makes it easy, live music sets a great mood, and every server and manager we’ve met is friendly, professional and genuinely remembers us by name. They’re always ready to accommodate special requests or help secure a last-minute reservation. If you’re looking for a reliably fantastic steakhouse in Pittsburgh—one that treats gluten-free diners like first-class guests—Del Frisco’s Double Eagle is hard to beat. Highly recommended!
