I loved this restaurant. My only regret is that we went to it on our last night in Rome.
The atmosphere was classy eclectic vintage cool, something fun and interesting to look at everywhere you looked. I am gluten sensitive and I made sure our waiter (Alex) knew about this. Alex was so attentive to this that when we ordered an appetizer to share he immediately suggested an alternative for me, knowing what we ordered was not safe for me. I’m a little adventurous so I let him choose an appetizer, the fried artichoke, and I loved it. It was crispy and delicate with just enough creamy sauce to enhance the artichoke, not overwhelm it.
Additionally, I’m terrible at pairing wine with many meals but I love a good pairing so I asked Alex for help with this. He was eager to help and knowledgeable. He started me out with a rose champagne that worked perfect with my artichoke and my delicious gluten free bun (which was so good I had to verify that I was actually gluten free. And it was!).
For dinner I wanted pasta and sure enough, they had a gluten free option that again, I couldn’t tell it was gluten free, it was that good. Alex paired a beautiful red wine to go with my meal (which I am now frantically trying to find here in the US). The wine and meal pairing completely enhanced each other and I was in heaven.
We skipped dessert because we were too full but Alex knew I needed a little something sweet to top off the experience so he brought me a small glass of a sweet cherry spiced wine/liquor that was just what I needed. How did he know? He’s just that good.
I want to mention that for me the portions of food were perfect but I’m a petite woman. My husband on the other hand, prefers a bit more. So if you’re a big eater like him, I suggest ordering all the courses from starters to dessert. Also, if you value the presentation of your food, I think you’ll like this. Each dish is appropriately dressed without being too much. Even my paste as piled just right.
I loved my experience here. I hope you do as well.
