Dr. Rolf's Barbeque

I thought we had a pretty good experience, the food tasted good. They seemed very confident about their gluten free protocols and the server frequently checked back in with the chefs. As someone with celiac disease going to eat out is always difficult. I got the meat platter and when it came out the corn bread waffle was on there and I tried to send it back as it was not marked gluten free on the menu. The server reassured me that it was in fact gluten free and said she checked with the chefs who confirmed. So I ate it and it was tasty, but unfortunately not worth the intestinal damage. I called back another day and asked if it was gluten free and was told no it wasn’t. So I told them I have a gluten allergy and was served this and assured it was. Did not feel that they took any responsibility for what happened, wasn’t offered to be transferred to a manager just asked if there was anything else I needed. Honestly I’m just really disappointed in a place I really wanted to like but honestly with the service I would not feel safe to eat here again.

My mom has been asking me to visit this place with her for months. For some reason I was apprehensive, and for that I apologize because oh my goodness, this is some of the best food I have had in a very long time. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with the gluten free bun; it was phenomenal! It was flannel fest in downtown Muskegon, so the restaurant was extremely busy so there was a bit of a wait when we arrived. Multiple team members checked in with us to apologize for the wait and let us know it wouldn’t be long. Our server, though very busy, was attentive and kind. I had my two year old with us and everyone was so nice to him; I know it can be hard dealing with a little one in the way. Thank you guys for making my first experience a good one! I’ll definitely be back (but in the meantime, consider a Holland location ;) )
