Echelon Wine Bar

We stopped by for an appetizer and a couple glasses of wine on Friday evening. The service was excellent. We ordered the cheese board. The homemade focaccia was gluten free and tasted amazing. I was honestly pretty disappointed in the cheese selection on the board. One was a bleu cheese, I don’t mind bleu cheese but it seems out of place on a cheese board, especially with no warning on the menu. The middle cheese (I think it was Parmesan?) lacked flavor overall. The final cheese was a soft goat cheese and it was delicious. The board is also served with a variety of fruits, jams, and nuts which is an awesome touch. Overall it was a decent experience.

We had dinner there last night and it was AMAZING! Seriously, the best meal we've had in RVA in a very long time (and, yes, we have tried all the "foodie" places but they're not this good!). I have a gluten allergy and the menu was a dream, plus our waitress went out of her way to check one extra time with the chefs to be sure I could eat what I wanted to order. Of course, the food was not the only delicious aspect-- we had wine flights and they were such a pleasure. Overall, a fantastic evening!
