El Zarape

I got the chicken and cheese rice bowl and my husband got the Texas Fajita rice bowl. We had chosen this place through the Find Me Gluten Free app. The flavor was pretty good but the portions were lacking considering the price. We paid $18 for a plate that was just over half full of some rice, a bit of chicken for me steak and shrimp for my husband, and some type of queso. It wasn't bad, but we felt kind of disappointed that we spent our lunch choice of the day on something that felt lacking to us.

Excellent food in Mackinac City. The Birria Tacos and chips were the highlight. The Al Pastor and Carnitas tacos were good as well. Many people were eating bowls, we didn’t care much for the rice but the meats and sauces were delicious. The Baja bowl and chips were gluten free and celiac safe. They have a salsa bar at the front that also has limes, cilantro, onions, and peppers to top your meals with. The restaurant is in an old fast food location which you can tell from the seating but the restaurant is clean and the people working were very friendly. Overall a great experience and great Mexican food.
