Fern

Hours of operation is what makes this restaurant so popular. With every other place in the area closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, Fern is the only option on those nights. To say that the place is hopping then, is no understatement. That's not a great way to start a review, but reality is that the food sadly isn't great. On one occasion I had a ragu that was supposed to be a lamb bolognese. It was so heavy, that I couldn't enjoy it. On another occasion I had the pork tomahawk. It was falling-off-the-plate massive, but so tough and poorly seasoned that I could only eat the very center. The accompanying chard was overcooked and I still don't know what the cornbread was supposed to taste like - it wasn't edible. My partner seemed to enjoy the gluten-free pizza. The best thing we had was a shared endive salad. Service was taking the order and bringing the bill - nothing in between although I did get a fork, when I waved madly, as my table setting had lacked one... Sad.
