When I went to First Mile last night to celebrate a friend's birthday, I planned on only drinking cocktails. I'm vegan and recently found out I have to eat gluten free too for my health. I didn't think I would be able to have a substantial meal, so I ate a little before hand. I double checked that the (delicious) drink I ordered was gluten free & Yannic, our server, made sure it was and even knew that although the whiskey was distilled from wheat, that process removes the gluten. He proceeded to double check exactly which menu items were GF. At this point I let him know I was vegan too and didn't really plan on eating. He brought me a plate of GF bread and marinara when the rest of the apps came out! I then decided to order a side of rice & grilled asparagus that were marked GF. The lady who dropped off my plate offered a side of ponzu sauce that she made sure was GF and was delicious! I was even able to have a bite of the chocolate avocado mousse that got ordered for dessert! I was incredibly pleasantly surprised with how accommodating they were for my severely restricted diet. I felt like a normal person just having dinner with my friends! Thank you thank you thank you to our server Yannic & everyone behind the scenes that made this such an nice evening for us!
