Fork in the Road Restaurant

I’d like to start by saying the service was amazing, and the atmosphere was nice. The food was middle of the road, and what is driving the 2 stars is the pricing. I was shocked when I got my meal, and it was 86.00 for lunch. I ordered the lunch “special” on Tuesday (prime rib sandwich), my wife is gluten free, and they were accommodating which was awesome. She ordered the GF Reuben, and my son order a cheeseburger. We all got the Mac n cheese as a side, and my wife and I also ordered the coleslaw. All of the food was again middle of the road. Very typical of what you would find at any Wisconsin lunch stop. The famous Mac n cheese was bright orange, and had a slight Kraft box flavor and color. Drinks were not bottomless, which was not disclosed by the server (glad we only ordered 1 refill). The “HOH” add on fee is a great theory, but roll that into the cost of your food. Don’t hit your patrons with an “added gratuity” unless the food is nothing short of spectacular. Large plates, small portions, and high prices are not what generates new customers. If you’re looking for an affordable meal that is middle of the road, look elsewhere.

It's been better. It was my parents' anniversary today and they were there for lunch. My mom ordered gluten free mac and cheese and one to go for me. (Such a great mom!) First they brought her pasta that wasn't gluten free and then she sat there without food waiting for a new meal to be made. Then the mac and cheese meal they packed up for me I found didn't have brisket, even though it was ordered and listed on the box. I hope they improve their consistency before we visit again, because the food is usually really good and my family has been going there for years.
